Concept

With your input for operational requirements we can develop and analyse concepts that will be presented to you. This enables comparison in performance, footprint and budgets

Design

A ship design will be presented by its specification, General Arrangement, 3D renders and all required calculations of weight, stability and speed.

Innovation

New and innovative designs can be realized and tested in model tank or with CFD calculations.

engineering

A complete engineering package can be provided with Class approved drawings for construction, propulsion and systems.

Production

Cutting files and production drawings can be made and presented digital and on paper. Those can be supplied to the Shipyard for building the vessel.

support

At any stage and for many subjects support can be given to help you out. Think about sustainability, visualisation, problem solving, refits, stability and many others.

Zero

Who wouldn’t want to go to Zero Emission? Great strides are being made to get to this point. The photo shows the battery room of the fast ferry belonging to Frisia, Germany. The ferry will soon sail from Norddeich to Norderney and will be recharged on shore. Each hull of the catamaran has an independent battery pack from EST-Floattech, with a total capacity of 1.8 MWh.

An application like this requires a multidisciplinary approach. The limited draft, speed, battery weight, payload and shallow water effects had to be taken into account. In addition to CFD calculations, the shallow water effect has been extensively tested in a special shallow water tank test facility in Duisburg. It was a privilege as a designer to have had a leading role in this design.

Sustainability

When developing concepts and projects, the influence of building and operating the ships on the environment, can be taken into account. This provides much insight into the CO2 emissions, the circularity of materials and what choices can be made to minimize the footprint. Various energy sources such, as electricity, diesel, methanol and hydrogen, can be included in the comparison. A complete report allows responsible and workable choices to be made.

The render shows the E-LUV 2208, a robust work boat, under construction in the UK, equipped with a 2.4 MWh battery pack. To enable operations in remote areas, the ship comes with a battery container on shore.

This makes sustainable sailing in remote nature reserves possible.

Experience

As employe of Damen Shipyards I could work on many innovative new designs.

This in cooperation with fantastic colleagues at Damen

The pictures below show a viority of these designs and concepts of Damen.
